The availability of trainers to deliver the Keeping Safe Training Programme is a priority for the Child Protection Service. The Archdiocese of Dublin commenced a Keeping Safe Training the Trainers programme which began in September 2007 and will continue until May 2008 at which point it is hoped to have 19 new trainers accredited to deliver the Keeping Safe Programme. Participants from the Dublin & Ferns Dioceses along with representatives from CORI, the Legion of Mary and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, are currently working towards achieving accreditation. Four sessions of the programme were held between September-December 2007. A further two full-day sessions were held on 12th and 26th January in the SVP Conference Centre. We extend our thanks to the St. Vincent de Paul Society who have generously donated the use of their Conference facilities free of charge to accommodate the Course.
Training throughout the diocese continued with a number of other Church groups including volunteers at the Regina Coeli Hostel. We are continuing to develop modules specific to their needs and in line with statutory and Church guidelines.
